Jacqueline Duncan has been selected to participate in Visual Arts Scotland’s Annual Exhibition 2027, Matter, with two works from her Paper Constructions and Paper Assemblages series.
The exhibition will take place in the Upper Galleries of the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh in January 2027, bringing together artists and makers working across contemporary visual art and craft.
The two selected works are:
Swell lambda in yellow 2.5, from the Paper Constructions Series

Wave in grey and yellow 1, from the Paper Assemblages Series

Both works are part of Duncan’s ongoing exploration of paper, movement, rhythm and light. Using cutting, folding, layering and construction, she works with paper as a physical and structural material rather than simply as a surface. Light and shadow become part of the work, creating subtle changes as the viewer moves around it.
The VAS Annual Exhibition brings together work by emerging and established artists and makers from Scotland and beyond. Matter, the 2027 exhibition, will focus on contemporary approaches to material, process and making.
