Jacqueline Duncan has a date set for her upcoming exhibition, “Out of Earth & Water”. Alongside artist Edward Hutchison, Jacqueline will present her new series of works inspired by water and waves at the Bankside Gallery in London, from June 12 to 23.
Exhibition “Out of Earth & Water”
The title of the exhibition incorporates the ideas that have been inspiring both artists in their recent work. Water, waves, aquascape, landscape and all the elements accompanying their movements are recurring themes in Jacqueline Duncan’s work. With her new series “Waves”, the artist explores their complex forms using various materials.
British artist Edward Hutchison, with whom Jacqueline Duncan will exhibit at the Bankside Gallery is inspired by trees, roots, and plant life as a whole. His watercolor works create evocative abstract images that shed light on intimate elements of nature.
About Jacqueline Duncan
Jacqueline Duncan works in Devon. Born in 1967, she studied at the London College of Fashion and lived and worked in Milan, São Paulo, and New York, where she worked with fashion before dedicating herself to the visual arts. Depicting nature through mixed media, drawing, painting, semi precious stones, wood, stainless steel mesh and dressmaker pins, she engages with the ever-changing aquatic worlds she observes.
Jacqueline’s work makes an impression with its precision, level of detail, and particularly the play of perspectives created with the effects of light, shadow, and movement.
Among solo and group exhibitions over the past 25 years, highlights include the London Art Biennale (2023), Royal West of England Academy (2019 and 2023), Museum of Contemporary Art in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, Brazil (2005)
About Edward Hutchison
Edward Hutchison’s paintings investigate the energy of complex root systems and the vigor of the dawn chorus, the life force of ancient oaks and the harmony of wildflowers, encouraging us to deepen our connection with the natural environment. ‘An artist at war for environmental causes’ is how he has been described, creating purposeful paintings.
Hutchison, who attended the COP26, cites a lack of understanding among decision-makers as being detrimental to the environment and aims for his paintings to be both stimulating and provocative.
