‘Out of Earth & Water’
12 – 23 June 2024
Bankside Gallery, London – UK

‘Out of Earth & Water’ is a conversation between Jacqueline Duncan and Edward Hutchinson, born out of a shared admiration for each other’s work and mutual interest in the land and water.

Living in an old mill on the banks of the River Dart in Devon, she explores the estuary surface, the current and waves, the ebb and flow of tide and the interaction with light through a series of painting and drawings.

She fragments her paintings and drawings, reconstructing them as a multi layered surface mounted on a structure of pins or geometric grids. She paints the reverse side of her work in iridescent colour which reflects off the paper surface and interacts with the projected shadows of the supporting grid.
